The Breedekloof, with its dramatic mountain ranges, meandering Breede River and lush vineyards, is one of the best kept secrets of the South African winelands – and it is just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town.

It is home to more than twenty wineries, ranging from large co-operatives to small boutique wineries. Although the area is the self-proclaimed home of Chenin blanc, an array of excellent white and red wines is produced here – and don’t forget the sweeties (such as Hanepoot). Waboomsrivier Winery is located on the north western fringes of the Breedekloof, on the road between Worcester and Ceres.

The Breedekloof is a place where farmers have worked the fertile land for generations. They are welcoming, jovial people. Most local families are known by their nicknames, which makes for entertaining conversation.

Whether it is adventurous mountain trails, luxurious accommodation or mouthwatering meals you’re after, the Breedekloof offers it all. It is the perfect place for a weekend breakaway. Take a trip off the beaten track and explore the Breedekloof’s wonderful wines, natural splendor and warm hospitality.
